Welcome to the website for the San Carlos/Belmont Toastmasters Club!
The primary purpose of our club is to help members overcome apprehensions about speaking in public and to improve our communication skills. This is accomplished by providing a self-paced, focused speaking program and a supportive, experienced group of people to assist you. By becoming a member of our club you can become more effective in formal public speaking, individual communications, impromptu situations, meeting management and participation, as well as leadership.
The special advantage of the San Carlos/Belmont Toastmasters club is that we are a community-based organization that offers a very rich mix of members representing a broad range of professional, ethnic, age and cultural diversity. Besides ensuring that no meeting is ever dull, this vibrant and enthusiastic membership base allows us to offer a friendly, supportive and accepting atmosphere that will foster your growth as a public speaker.
In addition, we offer a very unique learning environment within the framework of the Toastmasters International step-by-step program to develop your speaking and leadership capabilities. As you practice and improve your skills by following the assignments in the Communications and Leadership manuals our more experienced members serve as positive role models demonstrating the fundamentals of verbal communication.
As a member of San Carlos/Belmont Toastmasters, you will have the opportunity to practice your communication and leadership skills in a wide variety of leadership roles: as a meeting leader, club officer, and over the entire spectrum of leadership positions necessary in an international organization with more than 180,000 members.
Best of all, you learn by doing. You gain confidence by practicing basic communication skills including written presentations, impromptu speaking, the use of audio/visual aids and body language, as well as effective listening.
